Gender & Women’s Studies
at Kennesaw State University
The Gender & Women’s Studies (GWST) program at Kennesaw State University offers an interdisciplinary curriculum reflecting the vitality of gender studies, while focusing on intersections with race, ethnicity, and social class. Our coursework emphasizes that gender requires careful attention to its construction in relation to other social and cultural identities, as well as the importance for a global perspective on gender-related topics and issues. This program draws from various approaches examining gender including, but not limited to, feminist, queer, and masculinity studies. The purpose of the program is to share our vision of a just society, promote open dialogue and community across all forms of difference without excluding its complexity.
The Gender & Women’s Studies Program encourages undergraduate research that advances an ethical sensibility and promotes a culture respectful of difference. Through course work and outreach, the program maintains a commitment to advance the personal, intellectual, and social growth of all students, faculty, and staff at Kennesaw State University. This program helps ensure that all Kennesaw State University community members see the university as a safe space and inclusive environment.
