Gender & Women’s Studies

Minor

The Gender & Women’s Studies (GWST) minor is designed to increase students’ awareness of the impact of changing gender roles. The program encourages students to understand and value diversity by exploring differences among people, promoting dialogue on issues of diversity, and providing service learning experiences in the community. Current curriculum includes coursework in Gender & Women’s Studies as well as related courses in a variety of departments.

The minor is comprised of 15 credit hours with two required courses: GWST 3000 (Intro. to Gender and Women’s Studies) and GWST 4499 (Research in Gender and Women’s Studies). Students will select their remaining courses (9 hours) from a variety of course offerings.  Each student must take at least one course from the following areas: Humanities (Group A), Social Science (Group B), and an Additional course (Group C).  A list of the classes offered can be found on the advisement form.
