Gender & Women’s Studies

GWSSA

The Gender and Women’s Studies Student Association (GWSSA) at Kennesaw State University is founded on the premise that gender, which takes on different forms in different times and places, centrally shapes the everyday lives of all people. GWSSA offers a place where not only can students and faculty increase social awareness among the student body and the public at large, but also get actively involved in engaging current gender and women’s issues, while focusing on intersections with race, ethnicity, and social class.  We are here to:

    1. Foster dialogue that encourages consciousness-raising particularly around connections of racial, sexual, and gender identities and oppression.
    2. Promote social and academic justice through joint efforts with other groups who are engaged in similar goals and objectives for the betterment of Kennesaw State University and the local community.

Why join GWSSA?

We are a diverse group of people who learn from each other as we work together towards new understandings of topics relating to gender and women’s studies. Join us because you want to think critically about the world around you and to share those thoughts with other individuals.
